Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Abdominoplasty is one of the more frequent operations that Dr. Green does. With this procedure a woman who has lost the attractive shape of her abdomen with childbearing, or weight gain, can restore the abdomen to its youthful appearance. Although there is of necessity a large scar in this operation, this can be designed in a way that it is completely hidden under clothing or a bathing suit, and with time the scar fades and becomes a thin pale line on the lower abdomen.
Ideally this operation is best for someone who is not excessively overweight. Dr. Green is able to remove the extra skin to tighten the appearance of the abdomen. The muscles of the abdomen are also tightened in a side to side fashion to narrow the waist and flatten the upper, and especially the lower abdomen. The bellybutton is repositioned in this operation.
Occasionally a lesser procedure can be done such as liposuction or a "mini" abdominoplasty, in which only skin from the lower abdomen is removed without repositioning the bellybutton, combining this with liposuction to achieve a satisfactory result in someone who he does not have that much excess.
Dr. Green is very meticulous and careful in his surgical technique and has achieved particularly excellent results with the operation of abdominoplasty. He has developed several improvements in the operation which enhance the results. The operation is done in an outpatient surgery Center and the patient goes home thereafter. Extensive instructions a given for the postoperative care. Dr. Green and Margie the patient coordinator, will make a postoperative housecall on the day after surgery to remove drains, and to change the dressings. This unique service is provided to make your postoperative recovery more comfortable and convenient. Follow-up after this is in the office in the usual fashion. We maintain close contact with patients postoperatively by telephone and if there is ever any concern or question Dr. Green makes himself available for direct consultation and reassurance. If you are interested in this procedure it is a good idea to schedule well in advance because the block of time that is required to do the procedure makes it difficult to schedule at short notice. |
